Minga Reforestation Project began as an initiative of Kenzo van Gogh, Luc Binet and Boris Djakovic of Switzerland. Kenzo and Luc visited the reserve Dracula in 2021, in their eagerness to work to combat climate change, developed this project to reforest degraded areas of this and other reserves of EcoMinga; with the mission of planting at least a million trees. The name of the project comes from “minga”, kichwa word that means “community work”, as well as making reference to our foundation partner of the project. To achieve this goal, we built a forest nursery and collected seeds in the primary forest of the reserve, with the object of producing native trees.
With these actions we hope to support the fight against climate change through the uptake of CO emissions2at the same time that we generate sources of employment for the communities of the areas of influence of booking and we will protect habitat for globally threatened species.
As Fundación EcoMinga we contribute to the development of this project, with technical assistance, accompaniment, as well as the protection and monitoring of the reforested areas, to ensure the perpetuity of the trees planted. If you want to know more about this project, please contact us.
Be part of the change and protects the forest and the biodiversity of our planet.
